If there is one thing I learned last year during the lockdown, it is to always invest in yourself. Invest in your education, invest in mentorship, invest in your image. Spend money to improve yourself. I know I’ve made several posts in this blog about saving money and investing in the stock market. That’s great and all; you are preparing yourself financially for the future and your old self will be grateful for it. But here’s the thing… don’t solely invest in your financial future; don’t be stingy when it comes to improving all other aspects of your life.
As of late, I’ve been in an incredibly happy mindset since seeking mentorship. There are many successful people out there that are happy to share their knowledge… for a price. Yes, I get it. I sound like I’m praising gurus over here, so you must do proper research on these people you are about to work with and learn from. In order to succeed in life, you must connect with successful people. Spend time with them, understand their life philosophy and what they do that set themselves up in the right path.
It’s not always about money. There are other aspects in life that you know could be improved. It could be that you struggle with fitness, fashion, relationships, anxiety, and more. I understand there are many free resources that you can read or watch online, but there is something about actually booking an appointment with a mentor or a coach who just knows what they are talking about, understands your issues, and gives you feedback and necessary advice to help you. It is relieving to be understood and to have someone lead you in the right path, especially when they themselves went through the same struggles.
At times, we need to be given tough love. A nice kick in the butt to put us in another gear to wake us up. In order to get that, you need to reach out to professionals who are seen as a neutral party, who have at least 10+ years of experience in the area you are trying to improve, and to have them be honest with you. This is why you need to pull out your wallet and spend the money to get this kind of help because these professionals are not going to do it for free. Their time is valuable and if you want to talk to them, you got to pay for the time.
I am purposely not going to bring up any mentors / coaches in this article because I do not want to seem like I am advertising someone’s service. This is just me encouraging others to seek help. Do not rely on Instagram posts and cheesy motivational lines to pull you to the next level. Find a mentor to help you.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
